Untitled (for string trio and live electronics) 2019

On a technical level, String Trio  (2019) presents various examinations of how the trio moves together in time. Form and structure of the piece emerge from physical processes decided by the ensemble and how they fit within fixed temporal restraints.

Beyond the technical description, the piece comes from my interest in exploring a kind of dream logic, or “fractured form”. Not simply interjecting non-sequiturs or absurdism, but creating a situation in which progression or movement in a piece is disrupted, frozen still, or seemingly hyper compressed, and musical context is perpetually redefined.
